Saskia took the then-usual route in modelling, starting at 15 years of age. However, she left a year later to focus on art studies. She returned to the industry when she was 29 years old, an unorthodox age for an industry that typically casts models in their late teens.

She established herself as a bonafide model, debuting at the Spring/Summer 2011 shows for Balenciaga and Givenchy. She also nabbed two Vogue covers in a short span of two seasons after her debut and closed the Fall/Winter 2011 Chanel couture show the season after. Other veteran models include 34-year-old Guinevere van Seenus, who was the face of Miu Miu’s resort 2012 campaign.
