Supermodel Bianca Balti
SINGAPORE — With her striking blue peepers and voluptuous puckers, you can’t ignore Italian supermodel Bianca Balti. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana couldn’t.
In fact, Balti’s career took off when she fronted the designers’ Dolce&Gabbana Spring campaign in 2005. Since then, she has appeared on the runways of Prada, Christian Dior, Victoria’s Secret, Gucci and Chanel.
Today, the 30-year-old is the face of Dolce&Gabbana’s Light Blue: Escape To Panarea perfume, describing it as “invigorating, sensual and iconic”.
Balti admitted she loves channelling the vibe of a Dolce&Gabbana woman. “I love the passion of (being one). Her confidence is effortless and intriguing. It is a character I love to portray,” she said. “It comes really naturally and it feels nice that I don’t need to pretend because I have this ‘Italian-ness’ in me.”
Q: Do you have any particular memory about certain smells?
A: As a child going on holiday with my family, they always used to take me to the mountains. I will never forget the scent of the forests surrounding the mountains. Equally, I love the sea, the warm breeze and the beach because they remind me of freedom, of my first holiday with my friends.
Q: So you must love spritzing on a scent every day…
A: I love to wear fragrances. I am the type of person who associates a fragrance with the places I have visited. It is such a powerful thing and I wouldn’t feel complete if I didn’t wear it. Strangely enough, my first fragrance was Light Blue! When I was about 11, I received it as a gift and since then, I don’t think there has been a single day when I didn’t wear a scent.
