Its founder committed suicide

Roy Raymond created Victoria’s Secret in 1977 by opening a store in the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, California, USA. After opening a couple more shops in the area and launching a mail-order catalogue he sold the brand in 1982 to Limited Brands.

By 1993 Brands Limited had made Victoria'€™s Secret a nationally recognised brand, while Raymond Roy’s most recent venture had left him bankrupt. He was last seen alive walking toward the Golden Gate Bridge and his body was found washed up on the shores later that day. Police concluded it was suicide.
