Its founder committed suicide

Roy Raymond created Victoria’s Secret in 1977 by opening a store in the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, California, USA. After opening a couple more shops in the area and launching a mail-order catalogue he sold the brand in 1982 to Limited Brands.

By 1993 Brands Limited had made Victoria'€™s Secret a nationally recognised brand, while Raymond Roy’s most recent venture had left him bankrupt.
