An explosion of local artistes on the red carpet this year led to some standout sartorial choices and some, well, interesting ones (to say the least)

Awards season kicked off in Singapore with the Asia Television Awards (ATAs) 2012 held on December 6 at the Shangri-La Hotel, hosted by Paul Foster, Jaymee Ong, May & Choy. While the 40 award winners were dominated by Shanghai and Korea, Singapore bagged performance wins through Rui En, Oli Pettigrew, Michelle Chong and Dominic Lau.

This could also have been a gamechanger in red carpet festivities, perhaps buoyed by the combination of the ATAs with ScreenSingapore, an annual Singapore film festival. Two red carpets in two days is no mean feat for a fashionista – even with the barrage of fashion weeks in Singapore now – but trust our Singapore celebrities to rise to the occasion!
