Rakuten sets up shop in Singapore

Japan’s largest online shopping mall to offer free delivery service to mark the start of its Singapore operations


SINGAPORE — Shopaholics in Singapore, rejoice!

Rakuten, Japan’s largest online shopping mall, has commenced operations in Singapore, with more than 120 Japanese and local merchants and 40,000 products across categories including fashion, food and electronics. Notable brands currently available at Rakuten in Singapore include Kuriya Fish Market, VANILLABEANS and Kenko.com.

And to celebrate its launch here, Rakuten is offering free delivery for all products (with a minimum purchase of S$30) from Jan 14 to 17. From now till March 31, members can also accumulate ten times more Rakuten Super Points by paying for their purchases using MasterCard.

The company is also planning to bring its hallmark Rakuten Supersale, a big discount event, to their customers in Singapore later this year.
