5 questions with ... Alien Huang
Taiwanese star Alien Huang enjoyed his stay in Singapore so much, he hopes to return to our shores for a longer trip next year. Huang was here to star in MediaCorp TV Channel 8's mid-year period blockbuster Joys Of Life. In real life, the 29-year-old also favours retro fashion pieces, sticking mainly to black and white pieces for a classic style.
How did you engage your passion for fashion before you created your label, Alien Evolution Studio (A.E.S.)?
Alien Huang: I published two books containing my illustrations so that people would know of my passion in fashion before I set it up in 2008. I have always released limited quantities of each style of clothing because if the quantity is little, more people would want it, and that has not changed over these four years. Simply put, A.E.S. will not make me rich.
Why the name Alien Evolution Studio?
My English name is Alien and many will laugh and comment that Alien isn't a real name. However, I'm not a Westerner, so to me an English name is like a nickname ... I hope that A.E.S. comes along being appreciated as a work of art, rather than being viewed as having a shocking effect.
