SINGAPORE — When she’s not busy helping Iron Man out on the big screen, Gwyneth Paltrow is a homebody with a penchant for exercising and dancing.
“I love to cook, I like to exercise a lot, (and) I dance. Exercise has become kind of a hobby (and) I like to dance a lot,” she said. “I like decorating houses and (I) like home things. That’s sort of it; that’s all I have time for, really.”
Paltrow also happens to be the face of BOSS Parfums’ new fragrance, BOSS JOUR Pour Femme, a feminine day scent that reveals a cocktail of white florals with vibrant citrus, which surely is a tip of the hat to the actress’ beauty and style sensibilities.
Q: How do you think you embody the BOSS woman?
A: HUGO BOSS is a very strong brand, it’s a very successful company and they have really loyal customers. The BOSS woman is someone who has many facets to her. She is focused, together, a hard worker, but also totally feminine at the same time. I like the idea that you can be more than one (person). You don’t just have to be a career woman — you can be home with your kids on the floor; you can be a lover to your husband; you can be a cook at home; you can (tend to) the garden and you can also kick ass at work. You can be all that. I really like the idea that the modern woman has many facets to her because I think we do. I thought: ‘Well, great. This is what I stand for.’ So it was a good opportunity.
Q: What are some beauty tips you swear by?
A: Sleep, love, exercise, water. That’s pretty much it. My beauty routine is embarrassingly simple. I don’t wear make-up in real life because I just don’t. But I’m good with moisturiser and I always have mascara. (Those are) my beauty essentials.
Q: What about fashion? Which basics can you not do without?
A: A little black dress and a blazer. Those are kind of my staples.
Q: Are those pieces your fail-proof gear?
A: Definitely the little black dress, but (it) could (also) be a black jumpsuit … something that’s easy and (that is) all one thing. For me, it’s about ease so I’ve always had a uniform. I always have jeans and a blazer in the day, and a dress or a one-piece at night.
Q: Do you think there’s a relationship between perfume, make-up and fashion?
A: Yes I do. I think that these are all ways in which a woman can express herself, ways in which a woman can decide how she wants to present herself to the world and what she wants to say about herself. I think that’s what fashion, make-up and fragrance do. It gives an opportunity to express yourself.
