SINGAPORE — For someone who describes his style as “non-existent, random and malleable”, George Young cuts a fine figure in a suit rocking a pocket square, which he considers a vital for the perfect outfit. A Brand Influencer for Japanese skincare company SK-II, the actor will also be starring in Toggle’s latest telemovie, Shy Guy, where he plays a geek named Patrick. “There’s no style involved there. There is a style, but it’s a style that goes against the counter-stylish anti-style.” Ooh. A pocket square and a triple negative.
Q: What is your daily outfit like?
A: If it’s just a casual day, I like dressing down and just being very relaxed. Even though I break some sort of cardinal rule — according to some stylists — I wear a lot of shorts because it is a lot more comfortable especially during the day.
Q: What do you think complements an outfit?
A: The little touches do. Let’s say you’re going to an event that has a red dress code. You don’t have to wear all red; you can just wear a pair of red shoes or red lipstick. I’d go with a pocket square. (Go with) little touches for yourself that you notice first, so it brings a sort of confidence that you’ve done something — a small thing — and people notice it.
