If you're hoping to keep frizz at bay this winter, we'd recommend steering clear of loofahs - unlike Gwyneth Paltrow. In a recent magazine shoot, her stylist wrapped her locks around a loofah then blasted her hair with a hairdryer to boost volume and reduce frizz. "This is definitely not something I would recommend," says trichologist Elizabeth Cunnane Phillips. "Think of hair as a fibre, then think about your favourite cashmere sweater, and imagine using a loofah on that! The coarser bristles on the loofah will roughen the outer layer of the hair - the cuticle - and with repeated use this can cause breakage and dullness."
