Best things I've had for under S$10

Veteran radio DJ Simon Lim is sweet on sweets.

Chocolate truffle and vanilla gelato

He used to be called the Captain Of Your Heart when he was with Class 95FM, but DJ Simon Lim, who now hosts Nights With Simon on Gold 90.5FM (weekdays from 9pm to 1am) admitted that one thing dear to his heart, and that he has a weakness for is desserts.

"Life should be about indulging in life's simple pleasures in moderation. However, my metabolism has slowed with age, and I have to watch how much I eat these days." His solution is to eat what you love and exercise.

Turkish rice pudding (S$3) from Anatolia Turkish Restaurant (Far East Plaza #02-58/59; Tel: 6836 3352).

"This rice pudding is really like a creme brulee with the top slightly burnt and it is served cool. Totally addictive!"

Chocolate truffle and vanilla gelato (S$7.50 for a regular cup) from Gelatissimo (#01-01 Shaw House; Tel: 6736 1618).

"I often choose to have a combination of chocolate truffle and vanilla, as the rich flavour of the chocolate truffle is best brought out with really good vanilla gelato."

Coconut ice cream with red rubies and jackfruit (S$7.50) from Bangkok Jam at (#02-26 Wheelock Place; Tel: 6836 0989).

"The coconut ice cream is smooth, creamy and with just the right hint of coconut taste, not overpowering. This is a twist to the traditional Thai red rubies dessert."
