One of the best things about fashion is how much variety there is. Every few weeks something new appears, and every few months, an impressive swarm of new arrivals settle upon us. Spring/Summer collections are hot off the runways now that the year has begun, and while Spring itself is not for a bit, some of these arrivals, including the all-important bags, have already begun making their way into our favourite stores. We pick five that we can't wait to get our hands on this season.
1. Louis Vuitton Mini Sacs Monceau BB
The mini bag comes in three distinctive colours: a rich earthy Vert Olive, Rose Indien (pictured above), and a more muted and neutral Rose Velours shade.
The Monceau bag was launched for the first time in 1991, and has been reinterpreted this January in the form of the Monceau BB. It now comes in a smaller size and patent calfskin leather where it was previously made only in Epi leather. It is quite possibly the most sleek and chic version of the envelope satchel we have seen in a while, and is - for the first time in the history of the line - free of the traditional embossed head-to-toe Louis Vuitton monogram (a pleasant change if we may say so). The bag is great for day or night and everything in between, making it a perfect choice for your Spring wardrobes.
The Monceau BB retails at S$2,010, available at all Louis Vuitton stores.
2. Bally White Grande Delfina Tote in Python

The Bally Grande Delfina Tote comes in white and chocolate python, as well as a nude oyster, and plain black design.
A white bag may not scream Spring/Summer (in fact it generally does a lot better for Fall/Winter) but it makes a great addition to your collection if your wardrobe has a fair number of neutrals or cream-based florals. We adore the shape of the Grande Delfina Tote, and the python with leather detailing gives the bag more texture and intrigue. The design itself also features new Bally hardware closure.
The Bally Grande Delfina Tote in Python retails for S$3,990, available at all Bally stores.
3. Michael Kors Red Tote

It's the most prominent of the bags from Michael Kors' Summer 2013 collection that are available in Singapore, and well within reason. The bright red and hot pink bags in this design are both sure to be attention-grabbers.
Nothing screams bold and bright better than a fire engine-red bag. A bright red bag, perfect for tying together bright colours or even as a statement on its own with a simple ensemble of jeans and a t-shirt, should be a staple in every wardrobe this Spring. The subtle gold detailing and understated logo keep it on the right side of bold without crossing over into garish territory. This Michael Kors deisgn even comes in a hot pink, cool black and white, or - if you're a little edgier - a teal with square metal stud detailing.
The price and availability of this is TBC.
4. Mulberry Small Del Rey

The deer brown bag in grainy print leather is our pick of the Small Del Rays (also available in blue and black or a Milk Chocolate suede), and the shoulder strap makes this the perfect size for a casual day out.
Mulberry has produced a smaller version of the Lana Del Rey-inspired bag from before. The bag is an embodiment of what Lana Del Rey herself describes as a reference to "bygone glamour" and a contrast between modern and retro luxury. The bag definitely holds a certain sensibility of more retro luxury and "English common sense". It isn't a style suited to all tastes or even a majority, but those with an appreciation for more old-fashioned whimsy will appreciate this bag, now available in a smaller size.
The Small Del Rey is priced at S$1,990, available at all Mulberry stores.
5. Jimmy Choo Sasha Bag

Keep it simple and relaxed this Spring with the casual Sasha bag, a great bag for days when you want a break from structure and rigidity.
Soft casual bags are great for lazy warm days out when you want to head out on a day of aimless wandering. If you're headed out to the gym or to run errands, we know the unbeatable ease of being able to throw things in a large tote bag without worrying about the shape and fit in the bag. We love the illusion of an adjustable buckle on the straps of this Sasha bag, and the fact that it is available in a medium or large. The colour is undoubtedly a winner for the fresher seasons, and simple in a way that is easy on the eyes and not at all dowdy.
The Jimmy Choo Sasha bag will be available from February/March and comes in size M or L, price TBC.
