It’s beginning to be increasingly apparent that the colour to look out for this fall is blue in many shades – think deep indigo and vibrant peacock blue. We present to you five stunning outerwear pieces from the Fall/Winter 2013 runways that caught our eye.
This astounding cape is made of goat hair, with shading from black to blue-green, and exudes old Hollywood glamour. Gucci’s Autumn/Winter 2013 line features the use of deep yet rich colours such as purple wine, rust, moss green and cerulean blue paired with black, which comes together in an outfit through the designer’s novel use of materials and treatments. Throw on this cape over a constructed silhouette for a striking profile.
2. Miu Miu
Miu Miu has a penchant for coming up with the cutest pieces. This coat is a well-balanced mix of flirty charm and high-end chic, with its heavy lapels and mid-calf length downplaying the girly cut and shiny buttons. The long navy coat is cinched in at the waist for sexier feminine shape, and looks great paired with contrasting accessories like a yellow polka-dotted necktie.
3. Salvatore Ferragamo
We’ve already professed our love for Salvatore Ferragamo’s coats in our previous fall feature article. The brand’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection is simply divine with its black, white and navy palette and use of black and navy pony hair. This coat shown here is not for the faint of heart – with a full navy pony hair exterior, asymmetrical leather lapel and leather inner linings, donning this coat will easily make you centre of everyone’s attention (in a good way).
4. Shanghai Tang
This wool blend embroidered coat from Shanghai Tang is a lovely shade of cobalt and can be pulled off effortlessly, so don’t be too daunted by its vibrancy. The colour might be just the thing to freshen up your look – make it pop as a statement piece against a neutral outfit, or mix and match with other colourful pieces for a colourblock effect.
This coat from Prada shows how bold can be beautiful, adding a touch of glamour to the fun turquoise hue with oversized fur cuffs. We can’t adequately express how lovely this shade is – just imagine it with salmon or apricot tones. You may think a colour like this is difficult to pull off, but blue is one of the easiest colours to match, so don’t knock it till you’ve tried it.
