Ferrari Land zooms its way into Spain

After making its first attempt at the tourism industry with the widely-successful Ferrari World theme park in Abu Dhabi, the iconic Italian car manufacturer is at it again – this time with Europe in its sights. Spreading over a span of 75,000 square meters and featuring a wide array of new and exciting attractions, Ferrari Land will “delight the whole family and not just F1 fans”, according to Andrea Perrone, CEO of Ferrari, a subsidiary of the manufacturer’s brand-related activities. Costing up to 100 million euros in investments, the project is slated to open in 2016.

One of the things to look out for in this first-of-its-kind theme park in Europe would be the vertical accelerator, the fastest and highest one in the entire continent. Apart from the heart-racing thrills and the rich culture and heritage of Ferrari, a notable landmark in the theme park and resort is the first ever Ferrari-themed hotel built inside PortAventura. Currently attracting over four million visitors a year, amongst which half are from outside Spain, PortAventura is the sixth most visited theme park in Europe. With an aquatic park and four hotels already in the famed theme park and resort, the Ferrari-themed hotel is sure to impress.

The luxurious five-star establishment, designed in the shape of the iconic scarlet car’s front nose, would boast 250 rooms, restaurants and a driving simulator – all to position Ferrari Land to be a suitable destination for the whole family. It remains to be seen whether Ferrari Land will be part of the main PortAventura theme park or will take residence outside of it, just like the current Costa Caribe Aquatic Park does. “The synergy between the two groups creates a powerful combination that means we can offer clients of both brands a unique experience,” says Andrea C. Bonomi of Investindustrial, a sister company of PortAventura.
