The modern East-meets-West restaurant offers a unique menu to excite the palate

Concept: Opened in July by the Paradise Group, LÈ Restaurant and Asian Tapas Bar embodies the concept of turning conventional Chinese cuisine into a modern and voguish affair, with the bar offering Asian-inspired tapas and cocktails.

Atmosphere: The interior of LÈ Restaurant comprises of the lounge section, which has dimmed lighting and easy chairs for sipping cocktails in, and the dining area, with round table settings typical of formal Chinese dinners. The furnishings and décor have thoughtfully incorporated a blend of modern contemporary influence with the traditional Chinese restaurant design for the envisioned avant-garde oriental glamour dining experience.

To drink: If you’re feeling thirsty (and adventurous), try one of their house cocktails. Their selection ranges from the LÈ special – a light, mildly sweet ice kachang-inspired drink – to the Fiery Empress, that combines fresh lemon juice, egg white and tequila with chilli padi and curry leaves. For a warm, soothing digestif, try the Silky Road in Summer, a concoction of spiced rum with Singapore’s teh halia (ginger tea).

Tapas: LÈ’s tapas menu, like their cocktails, is a refreshing variation of the conventional dishes at a fine dining restaurant. Try their Mantou Burger with Braised USDA Prime Beef, or their Braised Cherry Foie Gras with Red Wine – a mouthwatering treat served as cherry-like globules with fresh cherries on the side.

Dinner highlights: LÈ’s Coral Trout Poached in Lobster Broth was one of our favourites of the night. The poached fish soup tastes as rich as lobster bisque without the thick creamy texture, so we had no problems finishing our bowl and wishing there was more.

We also highly recommend the Pan-Seared Grade 9 Australian Wagyu. The table side chef sears the meat perfectly with truffle oil and serves it up with some lemon zest sea salt on the side. Of course, seeing as it’s Grade 9 wagyu beef, the only way it could taste terrible would be if you dipped it in tar.

After dinner: You can head to the comfortable yet swanky lounge area for after-dinner drinks. A house DJ will be spinning at the LÈ bar on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. With its interesting food and drinks menu and its cosy and chic atmosphere, LÈ Restaurant and Asian Tapas Bar is a great place for any occasion.
