Barely two months into the soft launch of the numerous dining concepts at F&B and retail destination Quayside Isle, and already, it's become apparent that Singaporeans don't mind enduring a fair bit of traveling for good food. And if the weekend crowds at the Sentosa Cove enclave are anything to go by, new seafood gastrobar Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro could potentially be off to a swimmingly good start.
What's the buzz: From the very same people who brought to you the Bar Bar Black Sheep group of gastropubs, Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro runs with a modern Australian concept, from its breezy laidback decor to a fish-and-seafood focused menu. The restaurant's cold ocean items are air-flown in fresh or live on the day itself to ensure freshness, and then prepared to highlight natural flavours.
Highlights on Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro's menu include (L to R) its signature chili crab pasta, carpaccio, and seafood platter.
Food and drinks: All the de facto seafood bar dishes (live oysters, lobster bisque, fish and chips) are available here, but there are too, local touches in the form of a signature Chili Crab Pasta, and the use of Tiger Beer in the batter of the fish and chips. Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro also invites patrons to take their pick from the seafood on display, and have it prepared by the chefs on the spot. It's not all seafood of course -- a menu of salads and meat items are available, perfect for pairing with the selection of wines, cocktails, and craft beers.
Also look forward to: For those who are not quite content to leave immediately after dinner -- as you should be; the views of the waterfront marina are bewitching by nightfall -- Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro cranks the atmosphere up a notch with multi-hued ambient LEDs and an eclectic mix of house and funk beats. This is your cue for a post-dinner cocktail or two.
