Taste: 3 best prosecco brunches in Singapore

It’s no secret that Singaporeans love a good champagne brunch — in fact the definition of an enjoyable Sunday nowadays is one spent in the company of loved ones, quality bubbly and delicious food. If you’re a big fan of champagne brunches, it’s time to give its Italian cousin prosecco, a try too.

A sparkling white wine that is generally drier on the palette as compared to champagne, prosecco is made from an Italian grape variety Glera and is catching on here with those who prefer a sweeter tipple. If you haven’t made plans for this weekend yet, do check out our roundup of the three best prosecco brunches in Singapore, as well as exclusive DBS Black Card deals that come with it. Cheers to a happy weekend!

A must-try dish is the refreshing octopus salad with olives, tomatoes and pine nuts.

Located in a colonial building atop Telok Blangah Hill and overlooking a verdant 19-hectare park, having a meal at Alkaff Mansion Ristorante is as close as you can get to authentic European-style dining right here in Singapore.

Sip on free flow Prosecco, white and red wines, which complement favourites like the Scottish salmon ‘carpaccio’ with caviar dressing, ‘mozzarella’ cheese with tomatoes and basil. Another highlight of the Sunday brunch is the ‘live’ stations, which serves an array of dishes such as homemade seafood squid-ink ravioli with San Marzano tomatoes, orange zest and fresh mint.

The Sunday Prosecco Brunch is available at S$88++ per person, from 11.30am to 3.30pm.

Forlino’s Le Focaccine is made with the freshest cold cuts.

Forlino has won many awards for its exquisite Italian cuisine by celebrated chef Kentaro Torii, but if there was an award for “brunch venue with the best view”, they could possibly clinch the top prize too. The prosecco served is also a winner in its own right, with its light fruity taste.

Despite its fine dining setting, an experience can be best described as relaxed and comforting, with homely dishes such as seafood lasagne, four-cheese penne and trout carpaccio being served. Forlino’s Weekend Brunch buffet is priced at S$44++, and you can add S$30++ for free flow prosecco.

The Sunday Brunch menu changes weekly as well, so prepare your palette for a lovely surprise whenever you visit. For instance, this week from 21 to 22 June, diners can look forward to the ocean trout carpaccio and spaghetti with crab meat ragout.

DBS Black Card member perks: 20 percent off the total bill, with a minimum of four guests dining in. Promotion is valid from 17 June till 17 August 2014.

Cheese lovers will appreciate the wide variety of cheeses served at Senso’s Sunday Prosecco Brunch.

Known for serving quality Italian cuisine and impeccable service, Senso Ristorante & Bar is conveniently located in the Central Business District and is a popular venue for both business lunches and cosy dinner dates.

Its Sunday Prosecco Brunch is a hearty affair, and you should start with the free flow of antipasti, cold cuts, salads and desserts on the buffet line. However, we do recommend saving space for the delicious pastas and mains — which include the mouthwatering homemade trio of gnocchi with four cheese sauce and grilled monkfish with anchovy and caper sauce with cous cous.

Additionally, soups, pastas and mains are served a la minute at the brunch. The Prosecco Brunch is available at S$98++ with free flow prosecco, while the Ca’ del Bosco Franciacorta Sparkling Wine is priced at S$128++. Customers can also look forward to pasta and main course menus that are changed weekly.

DBS Black Card member perks: 20 percent off the total bill for the Sunday Prosecco Brunch and Ca’ del Bosco Franciacorta Sparkling Wine Brunch. The discount is not valid on public holidays and Senso’s monthly special-themed brunch usually held on the last Sunday of each month — namely the Pink Brunch (29 June), Summer Truffle Brunch (27 July) and Tuscany Bruch (31 August). Promotion is valid from 17 June to 17 August 2014.
