Spring/Summer trends are spreading like wildfire and while some of you aren't fussed about a new wardrobe, new arrivals are always difficult to resist. A good fragrance is a key addition to any wardrobe, just as important as a good bag or the perfect nude eyeshadow.
We can relate to the inevitable desire to latch onto something shiny and new, so if you're looking for a new scent to sport this Spring and Summer, here are three fragrances by Yves Saint Laurent, Jo Malone, and Escada for you to complement your new do's for the season. Fragrances are an understandably subjective thing, but if vanilla and black currant, marshmallow and cherries, or tea-scented fragrances are your thing, you won't be disappointed.
Manifesto by Yves Saint Laurent
The most indulgent thing about this might just be the bottling, with a signature YSL gold in the detailing and a rich jeweled purple cinching the feminine curves of the hourglass shape.
This perfume from YSL opens with rather green top notes, bergamot, and black currant. At the heart of it lies white flowers like jasmine and lily of the valley, though the latter is a lot fainter. The base notes in this might be the most prominent, with vanilla leading the pack. Manifesto is a generous mix of black currant and tonic bean notes as well, and while we find it a better fit for fall and winter, there is little to discourage someone from wearing a favored scent all year round.
The EDP will be available at the YSL Beaute Boutique at ION Orchard #B2-34 and YSL Fragrance counter at Tangs Beauty Hall and retails at S$129 for 50ml and S$159 for 90ml.
Earl Grey & Cucumber Cologne by Jo Malone
The distinct bergamot top notes and cucumber at the heart of the fragrance are counterposed with the sweetness of base notes like beeswax, vanilla, and musk.
Back in 2011, Jo Malone released a Tea Collection with five unique scents. The fast favorite was the Earl Grey & Cucumber cologne which sold out in all of two weeks. If we had to describe the blend of Earl Grey & Cucumber, the first thing we'd say is that it is undeniably British in its embodiment of afternoon tea. The highly coveted fragrance is making a come back this January, and is even available now in a 100ml bottle.
The 100ml and 300ml bottles retail at S$95 and S$190 respectively.
Cherry in the Air by Escada
Top notes of black cherry and raspberry with underlying mandarin open up to light gardenia, coconut orchid and vanilla notes at the heart without overshadowing the mild sandalwood and oak with creamy white suede at the base of the fragrance.
Perfectly in tune with the seasonal trend is another limited edition Spring/Summer fragrance from Escada. Cherries are the main focus of this perfume, but the marshmallow sweetness is just as prominent as the fruity notes. It's inspired by an anticipation of long warm carefree summer days in southern France that lead us to envision old-fashion bicycles with wicker baskets and picnics in a cherry orchard. Cherry in the Air is the perfect addition to your collection if you're looking for a new fragrance to wear out this season.
The Eau de Toilette comes in 30ml, 50ml, and 100ml bottles and retails at S$67, S$93, and S$117 respectively.
