(Relaxnews) - At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, runner Cathy Freeman galvanized the world by lighting the Olympic cauldron at the opening ceremony (the first competing athlete to do so at the Games) and earning a gold medal in a dazzling 400m sprint.
An Australian of Aboriginal descent, Freeman has since hung up her running shoes and devotes her time to an issue close to her heart. In 1997, she founded The Cathy Freeman Foundation, a charity devoted to helping to educate Aboriginal children.
