Elbow plank
The purpose: A strong core and tone chest, shoulders, and biceps.
- Lie face down on the floor resting on your forearms and knees.
- Push off the floor, raising up off your knees onto your toes and resting mainly on your elbows.
- Tighten your abs and concentrate on keeping your body as straight as a board -- back flat, not drooped, and your rear shouldn't be sticking up into the air.
- Hold as long as you can. Aim for 20-30 seconds in the beginning, and repeat three times.
