Adding a dance workout to your fitness routine is effective because it forces you to use different muscle groups and the challenge of learning new steps will help keep you motivated.
“Specific dance moves work muscles in different ways than more familiar exercises such as walking, jogging or cycling,” says Greg Gillespie from the Reebok Sports Club, London.
Jessica Wilson of Dance Direct believes that, if you pick the right style, dancing can be one of the best all-round forms of exercise. “You can work on coordination, flexibility and strength as well as getting aerobic exercise,” she says.
