Meet Nick Teo, winner of the 8DAYS Shirtless Guy Search 2012

In between the Summer Olympics, the release of Magic Mike, and the long-awaited release of The Avengers, 2012 has been a glorious year for man candy. But the year’s not over yet – and Christmas definitely came a little early for people attending the 8DAYS Shirtless Guy Search 2012 finals, which were held in Studio M Hotel last Tuesday. Ten guys, who were selected in November to compete on the basis of buff-ness, strutted and flexed for all to behold on an otherwise damp and stormy evening.
While the contest focuses mostly on abs and arms, the winner needed a bit of an “x” factor to stand out – after all, even the most sculpted six-packs start to blur when a multitude of them flash before your eyes. At the end of the day, only one person could reign victorious: Nick Teo, 23, an SIM undergrad who also won the “Mr. Toughest” prize for handling an AIBI Shake Weight in the most “manly” way.
“I used to be a dancer so the feeling onstage is excellent, is awesome,” said Nick, who stands tall at 1.83 metres. “I like to perform. I joined this contest so that I would be exposed to all these people and opportunities.”
As the evening’s double winner, and as an aspiring singer, you would think Nick were the typical gregarious artiste. However, the Banking & Finance student revealed himself to us as a slightly bashful young man who still needs to work on his public speaking skills.
“The scariest part for me is still the Q&A questions because I still can’t really talk in front of a crowd or a camera,” he said. “I will stumble quite often.”
Despite being a little shy, Nick hit it off with the other contestants, as they share a common love for working out and having fun.
“I felt quite intimidated [around the other guys] at first, but after I got to know them, I found out they are quite friendly and outgoing.”
In fact, when we asked what he would do with his $3,000 cash prize, he said he would buy them all a drink. Generous, sensitive, and well-built? Sounds like a winner to us.
