Kampong Chicken

Kampong Chicken

Story by SARAH CHANG

Metal barbecue grills are for wimps. At BBQ by the Beach @ Sentosa, they take a leaf from the Polynesians in Hawaii by digging a deep hole in the sand, filling it with glowing coals and then slowly cooking food wrapped with banana leaves in there. Fun! The $29.90 cover charge includes a beverage and $20 worth of food vouchers with which you can redeem smoky grub like the Small Seafood Platter ($10) that consists of a king prawn, squid and a piece of salmon. Or you can have the Kampong Chicken with Mediterranean Vegetables ($10). Kampong chicken and med veg? Well, only the sandy barbecue pit is inspired by the Hawaiians, apparently.

Available July 13 to 22. Call 6279-1767 for reservations or e-mail carla_cardona@sentosa.com.sg
