The king of fruits takes centre stage at Resorts World Sentosa’s A Celebration of Durians with a series of durian-centric delicacies available resort-wide till July 29. We highlight two.

1. DURIAN FEST BUFFET

When: July 27, from 7pm-9pm and 9pm-11pm

Where: Hard Rock Hotel Singapore’s The Coliseum (L1 Forum, beside Hard Rock Cafe).

Price: $60 per adult, $35 per child

Not in the mood to face fierce durian sellers in Geylang? Then head for this more civilised hawker street set-up where you can feast all you want (within two hours) on six varieties of durian including Mao Shan Wang and D24. The beautifully pongy fruit will be freshly shucked on demand, and plates and wet wipes will be provided. (Told you it’s more civilised.) There’s also a spread of other tropical fruits like rambutans to cleanse your palate with.

2. DURIAN DESSERTS AT MALAYSIAN FOOD STREET

When: Till July 29. Closed Wed.

Where: Fung Wong Stall & Dessert Stall at Malaysian Food Street, The Bull Ring (outside Universal Studios Singapore).

Ever wondered what a durian tau sar piah tastes like? Wonder no more. Try the (misnomered) Durian Puff ($2.50 per piece) from Fung Wong Stall at RWS’ popular hawker attraction. Our verdict? The not-too-sweet durian and winter melon paste enveloped in flaky pastry is not bad at all. Otherwise, indulge in the Malaccan fave of Durian Chendol ($4) from the plainly named Dessert Stall, with Mao Shan Wang flesh topping the rich, coconutty dessert. Sin! Sin! Sin!
