Why watch: JGL gets physical in a time-travel thriller!

The low-down: A hit-man (JGL) specialising in killing people sent by the Mob in the future has trouble killing his next target — his future self (Bruce Willis).

The buzz: Judging by the trailer, Looper could be this year’s Source Code, which was last year’s Inception … What we’re trying to say is that this is a potentially loopy flick dealing with time continuum disruption and shifting realities — which, for geeks, means repeat viewings and endless online debates. But don’t be frightened by the cerebral concept, says director Rian Johnson (Brick). “The time travel [element] sets up the premise and then gets out of the way.” And what you have is really an action thriller with a moody Bruce Willis running around with an axe to grind. That sounds good, too.
