Fresh Face

What strikes you most when you meet 28-year-old Shin Hui is how comfortable she is in her own skin. From chatting about the challenges of mothering Ian, to the changes she's made in her career, she exudes confidence.

Now Park Hotel Group's business development manager - she's married to the CEO, Allan Law, 32 - Shin Hui happily gave up being the head of marketing for a more flexible work schedule. She shrugs, "I love being part of Ian's life, watching him change and develop."

Becoming a mother has certainly opened the eyes of the former National University of Singapore student to the plight of the less fortunate. These days, just watching kids suffer on TV makes her emotional. "They are Ian's age and they don't have food, facilities, and for some, even parents to take care of them."

So, hard-pressed for time as she is, Shin Hui volunteers her services with the YMCA Faces scheme, which disburses funds to the needy. She also hopes to help a friend who is offering aid to Cambodian child prostitutes.
