The pioneer of hairdressing, Vidal Sassoon, passed away in May after a long battle with leukemia. He was credited for breathing life into women's hairstyles - dominated by beehives and bouffants - in the 1950s. He also revitalised the bob cut in the 1960s, and gained greater recognition for Mia Farrow's hairdo in Rosemary's Baby. As much a whiz as he was with his scissors, he was a business marvel, building an empire with his name, salons and styling tools.
