It’s fitting that the launch of Maison Martin Margiela’s re-issued best-of work for Swedish high street label H&M would be punctuated by a series of installations by Daniel Arsham, Frederique Chauveaux, and Noemie Goudal. After all, Margiela was a designer known for his esoteric fashion, elevating the common dress into a conversational think-piece. The collection, comprised of iconic Margiela-isms such as trompe-l’oiel separates and a 2-in-1 dress guaranteed to get second bewildered looks, were worn and viewed by an excited crowd including Sarah Jessica Parker, Julianne Moore, and Kanye West.
