Sleight of Hand

Glittering with 6.9 carats worth of diamonds on its rhodium-plated white gold bezel, Cartier’s Promenade d’une Panthère houses an automatic movement that places the brand’s lithe emblem in the spotlight. Its speckled panther is no mere ornament though. The graceful feline is actually the oscillating weight placed at the front. While it’s not the only watch with an inverted rotor, it is the only one that winds its mainspring through its circumference, and not its middle. As is characteristic of the marque, functionality has again turned into a thing of beauty -  with a decadent twist.
