DO: Be genuinely happy for her
Despite our efforts to be happy for our friends, it’s not easy to avoid feeling envious when they’re doing better in life than we are. It’s not your friend’s fault that she got a job offer while you’re still unemployed, or that she’s getting married when you can’t even get a date on Valentine’s Day. The minute you show that you’re resentful, you set yourself up as a competitor. But if you can squeal when she gets engaged (despite being single), or ask her all about her new job (when you spent the whole day getting rejected by companies), then you might as well be made a saint.
