10. Your child’s teacher

If either you or the teacher is married, this is a definite no-no. But if you’re a single parent, and the teacher’s also available, it’s a grey area. On the one hand, it’s not always easy to find love as a single parent, so at least the teacher’s interest in your child should give you some reassurance of common ground. On the other hand, the gossip could make things awkward for your child, especially if the relationship doesn’t work out. Proceed with caution – or even better, try finding out if any of your child’s classmates have parents who are also single.
