A couple of weeks ago, CIA Director David Petraeus resigned in disgrace when the FBI discovered that he had an extramarital affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell. Again, while people were sketched out by the violation of the mentor-mentee relationship, the fact that both parties were married adds an extra layer of “NO” to the affair. As if heartbreak weren’t enough, people caught in the crossfire of their spouses’ infidelity have to deal with humiliation. No matter how romantic your forbidden love feels, when it all comes to light, you’ll just end up looking selfish.
