Believe it. He respects you less than he did when you were just friends. If you were his friend, and he respected you, he wouldn’t want this to happen to you. He’d want better things for you. He probably wouldn’t miss you a lot if things didn’t work out. Red flag: if he rants on unflatteringly about his wife, then don’t be all surprised he’s done the same to you if things don’t pan out.
